A husband, a father, and my grandfather – Russell Jones, Sr. is the true inspiration in my life. He was one of the most amazing individuals I have ever known. He taught me more then I can ever imagine; his intellect and enthusiasm to learn new things was extraordinary. The indescribable personality he possessed is something I strive to emulate. When a life-threatening event took his ability to speak and walk, the thought of quitting during his therapy never crossed his mind. I can still hear him saying…

"Never give up until you have reached your goals"

While speaking was extremely difficult, a single word at a time, he muttered those words to me. In 1994, he passed away and I not only lost my grandfather, but a mentor and my best friend. I thank God for the time I was able to spend with him before he passed away, as it allowed me to truly understand how impressive he was. Years have gone by since he passed away, but there is not one day that goes by that I do not think about him. Every time I pick up my camera, I remember when he used to show me his camera and how it worked. I know that he would be proud of my accomplishments throughout my life and I know he is looking down on me. The picture is of my grandfather while he served in the Navy. I designed this to replicate a US Postage Stamp in remembrance of him.
